Marco Giovannini, Chairman of MECH-I-TRONIC: “With this integration, we reaffirm our vision of becoming a global benchmark in mechatronics, driving industrial innovation with efficiency, precision, and sustainability.”
MILAN, 08/01/2025 – MECH-I-TRONIC, an international leader in customized mechatronic solutions, takes a significant step forward with the integration of French companies SMP and ERMO. Both are recognized leaders in the design and manufacturing of high-precision injection moulds for the plastics industry, serving the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and home sectors, respectively.
France plays a strategic role in this expansion: SMP is located in the Plastic Valley, east of Lyon, while ERMO is based in Pays de la Loire and Normandy, close to the French PolePharma and the Cosmetic Valley. Together, the two companies employ around 220 highly skilled professionals who will join the MECH-I-TRONIC team, bringing the group’s total workforce to approximately 900 employees.
Combined, SMP and ERMO generate a consolidated revenue of around €36 million, significantly contributing to the group’s growth. This operation will enable MECH-I-TRONIC to achieve key milestones: the group’s estimated annual revenue rises to approximately €170 million, with an EBITDA of around €30 million.
With this acquisition, MECH-I-TRONIC expands its industrial capabilities by adding a key technology to its portfolio and further strengthening its position in global markets.
The group’s expansion is driven by an ambitious and clear vision focused on three key pillars: technology, geography, and market sectors. The inclusion of SMP and ERMO establishes a mould manufacturing hub—a technology not previously part of the group’s portfolio. This complements MECH-I-TRONIC’s offerings for customers in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and home sectors.
Maurizio Delnevo, CEO of ERMO, expressed great enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are very excited to join MECH-I-TRONIC, an ambitious group that shares our values: innovation, excellence, and proximity to clients. This partnership opens a new chapter in ERMO’s history, and we look forward to contributing to this collective project while continuing to develop our expertise and know-how.”
Jacky Mazzolini, CEO of SMP, also highlighted the strong alignment of values with MECH-I-TRONIC:
“This represents an extraordinary growth opportunity that will allow us to accelerate our development and strengthen our presence in key international markets. We look to the future with an ambitious strategy that perfectly aligns with MECH-I-TRONIC.”
This operation was made possible with the support of a banking pool led by BNL, alongside Banco BPM and Deutsche Bank, further underscoring the confidence in the MECH-I-TRONIC project and its industrial vision.
Marco Giovannini, Chairman of MECH-I-TRONIC, concluded:
“With this acquisition, MECH-I-TRONIC continues to build a complete industrial supply chain, strengthening our global presence and capacity to innovate. The union of diverse expertise, experiences, and technologies reaffirms our vision: to become a global benchmark in mechatronics, driving industrial innovation with efficiency, precision, and sustainability.”
