Blown Film Extrusion Lines: Applications & Use Cases
Blown film extrusion lines from MECH-I-TRONIC produce high-quality films with the right balance of strength, flexibility and barrier performance. Using a circular die and bubble cooling, the process creates uniform films for flexible packaging, agriculture and industrial uses. Modern setups add multilayer coextrusion (3–5 layers), internal bubble cooling (IBC) and in-line thickness/gauge control to improve stability and cut kWh/kg. Lines process LDPE/LLDPE/mLLDPE/PP, blends with PCR/rPET and biodegradable/compostable resins and barrier films with EVOH/PA all monitored via Industry 4.0/OPC-UA dashboards for OEE, energy and scrap.

BLOWN FILM EXTRUSION: KEY INNOVATIONS
Modern blown film extrusion has evolved to deliver higher output, tighter tolerances and better sustainability.
- Multilayer coextrusion (3–5 layers): tailor clarity, stiffness, sealing and barrier by layer; optimize resin use for target applications.
- Material flexibility: run common polyolefins plus PCR/rPET and biodegradable blends with recipe control and stable melt profiles.
- Internal Bubble Cooling (IBC): improves bubble stability and thickness uniformity while reducing energy per kilo.
- Automated gauge control: closed-loop thickness measurement and profile control for consistent film across widths and speeds.
- Oscillating haul-off & winding: profile averaging and precise tension improve roll quality and downstream efficiency.
- Industry 4.0 interfaces: OPC-UA connectivity and dashboards for OEE, energy and scrap enable data-driven decisions and faster changeovers.
